Oh boy... It's been a bit again. :-(
In short form, here is a little about what's been going on around here the past 6 months :-)
- We have been doing a few renos again - we replaced 4 upstairs windows, and plan to replace the biggest one, the living room, soon. We also plan to replace the back door. When we are done this house will have all new windows and exterior doors :-)
We also pretty much gutted our kitchen (not quite gutted since we left the table area intact, and left most of the drywall up). We moved the appliances around, put in new cabinets and plan to paint in the winter :-) Our kitchen looks much nicer now, I can wipe the cabinets and they look clean! I have real drawers We have way more cabinet space and more floor space too! :-)
- Everyone has grown SO much! Lydia turned 3, Dylan turned 6, Matthew turned 30! Miriam turned 8, I turned 29, and the twins turn 2 this month! (Apparently we have all our birthdays packed into 6 months ... Feb 23 - Aug 23, huh, I never noticed that before...)
- I lost 59lbs with a healthy diet and exercise - I am learning more about how foods effect my body, what to eat with what, changing the way I am eating/cooking a bit, and I am exercising 5-2x a week. I've jogged color me rad 5k, jogged a 10k stretch, and in 22 weeks I've walked/jogged 220+ miles (354+ km) in total. I've also done countless strength workouts :-) All of this has been done at home on my treadmill, with basic dumbells, an exercise mat and some jogging outside :-) I am hoping to lose another 51lbs for a total of 110lbs by Sept 1st 2016 (our 10 yr Anniversary) So I have a year and a month to knock off another 51lbs, I'm hoping I can do it...
- We finished our first year homeschooling. The past year went better than I had expected! We all loved it and we plan to homeschool again next year. I already have all the books, I have written up my program plan, and mapped out what we plan to do when, we just can't wait to start in mid September :-)
This year instead of using a premade schedule/plan I made my own, this way we can work a little longer on their weaknesses and have some fun with their strengths - that is one big benefit of homeschooling, the curriculum can be tailored to each students individual needs. We also hope to do some classes outside of our home - one that we are pretty excited about is the Telus World of Science homeschool classes :-) Now I'm just hoping I can get them registered in time :-) (I've been told the classes fill up fast).
- We've had a fun summer so far. Since all our kids are older this year, no one is in the hospital, and we have no newborn schedules to work around, Toddler naps are flexible, so we can pack a few activities in a week and still have the time to do our regular work at home :-) And we have another month or so of summer left!
Till my next post, which is hopefully much sooner than 6 months from now :-)
