Manitoba 2015

This year for our family holiday, like most years, we drove down to Manitoba to visit family. What a blast! We had so much fun! We went to the beach, swimming in the pool, on nature walks, visited with friends, visited Nana's library, played games, ran around and around and around Opa and Nana's big house, relaxed, and so much more!

Listening to Uncle Matt play his Guitar

Playing at a HUGE playground

Fun at the beach

Dad makes the best sand castles

It's been 6 months...

Oh boy... It's been a bit again. :-(

In short form, here is a little about what's been going on around here the past 6 months :-)

- We have been doing a few renos again - we replaced 4 upstairs windows, and plan to replace the biggest one, the living room, soon. We also plan to replace the back door.  When we are done this house will have all new windows and exterior doors :-)
We also pretty much gutted our kitchen (not quite gutted since we left the table area intact, and left most of the drywall up). We moved the appliances around, put in new cabinets and plan to paint in the winter :-) Our kitchen looks much nicer now, I can wipe the cabinets and they look clean! I have real drawers We have way more cabinet space and more floor space too! :-)

- Everyone has grown SO much! Lydia turned 3, Dylan turned 6, Matthew turned 30! Miriam turned 8, I turned 29, and the twins turn 2 this month! (Apparently we have all our birthdays packed into 6 months ... Feb 23 - Aug 23, huh, I never noticed that before...)

- I lost 59lbs with a healthy diet and exercise - I am learning more about how foods effect my body, what to eat with what, changing the way I am eating/cooking a bit, and I am exercising 5-2x a week. I've jogged color me rad 5k, jogged a 10k stretch, and in 22 weeks I've walked/jogged 220+ miles (354+ km) in total. I've also done countless strength workouts :-)  All of this has been done at home on my treadmill, with basic dumbells, an exercise mat and some jogging outside :-)  I am hoping to lose another 51lbs for a total of 110lbs by Sept 1st 2016 (our 10 yr Anniversary) So I have a year and a month to knock off another 51lbs, I'm hoping I can do it...

- We finished our first year homeschooling. The past year went better than I had expected! We all loved it and we plan to homeschool again next year. I already have all the books, I have written up my program plan, and mapped out what we plan to do when, we just can't wait to start in mid September :-)
This year instead of using a premade schedule/plan I made my own, this way we can work a little longer on their weaknesses and have some fun with their strengths - that is one big benefit of homeschooling, the curriculum can be tailored to each students individual needs. We also hope to do some classes outside of our home - one that we are pretty excited about is the Telus World of Science homeschool classes :-)   Now I'm  just hoping I can get them registered in time :-)  (I've been told the classes fill up fast).

- We've had a fun summer so far. Since all our kids are older this year, no one is in the hospital, and we have no newborn schedules to work around,  Toddler naps are flexible, so we can pack a few activities in a week and still have the time to do our regular work at home :-)  And we have another month or so of summer left!

Till my next post, which is hopefully much sooner than 6 months from now :-)

What's been going on around here.

Well January had come and gone!
The first month of the year has been to us. We are back into routine again, had a few fun outings, family came to visit, the weather was warm, all in all it was a good month :-)

Uncle Byron often comes on Saturday mornings ☺

Books are for making jumps right?

Outings, silly twins, artsy. When it's time to do lessons we make the living room a giant playpen for the twins

Science! A favorite around here!

Sometimes Miriam sleeps in and ends up finishing a lesson at lunch.

Cousin Jaida comes over often ... She seems to like Uncle Matthew best, maybe because he's much more tolerant of cheek pinching and eye poking than the rest of us haha.

The twins LOVE Jaida as well!

Uncle Byron and the twins (and me in the mirror making a crazy face trying to get the twins to smile...didn't work. Lol)

I had a couple of bad days so my hubby bought me flowers - Love that guy!

I made me some cleaning lists! Spring cleaning  here I come!

Someone learned how to climb...

This is how I prepare food these days, there is almost no room for me to move around lol

Ryan can now climb pretty much everywhere...

Visiting the muttart Conservatory

Haha!

Flowers from my hubby 2x in one month! This is great!

Sometimes during lessons Lydia watched TV or a DVD. Now she can watch on the laptop cuz Auntie Cole bought her some headphones.

Dylan had some pretty saweet moves lol. Here he was telling me about the monster on his new Mario game (from Auntie Cole)

On the table again...

Ryan likes selfies haha!

A little music

Trying new things.

The twins are starting to work together... Haha!

Ian and Ryan's Story - Home

Monday July 28, in the afternoon, Ian was ready to go home! He was eating, peeing, pooping, off all meds. He was just a little sleepy. Some friends of ours ordered us pizza, Matthew picked it up from home, brought it to the hospital and we had a little pizza party. After we were done Ian was discharged and we went home!
